Hey there it’s JaQuay, your trusted travel agent.

Today, I want to discuss the 3 reasons people cancel their planned dream getaways, and how you can avoid it.

Here’s the main 3 reasons people cancel their travel plans:

Lack of Finances

Relationship/Domestic Issues

Procrastination

Now,I will say since COVID another reason that isn’t so common, but has been lately, is the airlines canceling flights.

I have helped dozen of travelers stranded at airports make it to their destinations even after their flight was canceled by the airlines…Don’t believe me, I have the proof for you right here. 👉🏽 DONT DO THIS WHEN YOUR FLIGHT IS CANCELED AND MAKE IT TO YOUR DESTINATION.

A lot of people book their travel on impulse.

Yes, they see a great deal, and they whip out their credit card, and lock it in.

And then, they don’t make any additional payments on the getaway before the final payment due date.

They let the large total balance sit there, torturing themselve by having to pay the large balance all at once…Not Fun!

SOLUTION:

  • Pay on your trip often with any extra money you have coming in.
  • Put extra money on a separate prepaid Debit Card or in another account separate from the account you use to pay your bills.
  • Always, know your balance and have it handy somewhere you look at often. (make it your phone display opening menu)

Some of the best prepaid cards I’ve used are BLUEBIRD by American Express.

Simply go to your nearest Walmart and purchase one for $5.

Whenever you want to load money, you would simply go to Walmart and reload it.

They also allow you to pull money from an external bank account too.

DOMESTIC RELATIONSHIP ISSUES

Most people plan trips on the basis of others joining them on their getaway.

Some invite people they may not get along with, or don’t know too well, and before departure, they end up having a falling out.

I have a few travel clients that don’t care who’s going with them on their getaway, they will travel solo, and they have a blast.

SOLUTION:

  • Make up your mind before planning your next getaway that you won’t allow anyone to stop you from going.
  • Let your travel agent know ahead of time that you are willing to travel solo and continue with the travel plans regardless of who’s joining you.
  • I make sure my solo travelers are safe and placed in resorts that cater to solo travelers making sure their travel experience is maximized.
  • Book your own room even if the price is better when sharing a room so that if your roommate cancels it doesn’t affect the cost of your trip.

PROCRASTINATION

Listen, I am not judging you, because procrastination and I are well acquainted, however, when it comes to my getaways and getting to paradise, procrastination takes a back seat.

That’s not the case for most people.

They don’t follow the rules when it comes to:

  • Arriving at the airport 2-3 hours before departure.
  • Packing before the day of departure.
  • Securing a reliable means of transportation to the airport.

You will not believe how many clients have contacted me in the wee hours of the morning to tell me they missed their flight.

Or the ones too ashamed to tell me they missed their flight, and I find out they arrived at their destination a day later or didn’t show up at all.

I believe this is the number one reason for most cancellations, they are last minute, and totally avoidable.

SOLUTION:

  • Do the opposite of everything listed above.
  • Arrive at the airport 2 hours before departure for domestic flights, and 3 hours before departure on international flights.
  • Start packing for your trips weeks in advance and use this helpful tool to make sure you don’t leave anything 👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽. ULTIMATE TRAVEL CHECKLIST
  • Don’t wait to pack the morning of your flight. You will definitely be racing the clock.
