Fearless Solo Traveler: A Comprehensive Guide to Safe and Enjoyable Solo Adventures

I’ve been helping solo travelers have safe and enjoyable trips for over 8 years now. I’ve learned a lot along the way, and I want to share some of my tips with you.

Choosing Your Accommodations

  • Do your research. Read reviews to see what other solo travelers have said about different accommodations.
  • Don’t choose lodging based on price. A cheap place could be in a dangerous neighborhood or have poor security.
  • Choose a place in a well-populated area. This will make it easier to get around and feel safe.
  • Avoid secluded accommodations. Unless you’re an experienced solo traveler, it’s best to stay in a place that’s easy to get to and from.
  • If you choose an Airbnb or private rental, make sure the host is verified and has lots of positive reviews. Read the reviews carefully to get an idea of what other guests have experienced.

Additional Safety Tips

  • Purchase a door stopper. This will prevent someone from barging into your room while you’re sleeping.
  • Stay in touch with someone at home. Let them know where you’re going and when you expect to be back.
  • Give someone your booking receipt and itinerary. This includes the address and phone number of your accommodations and more.
  • Don’t invite anyone to your room. If you’re meeting someone, do it in a public place.
  • Never tell anyone your room number. If you’re ordering something, pay for it right then and there and don’t charge it to your room.
  • Consider booking an all-inclusive resort. This will give you everything you need in one place, so you won’t have to leave the resort if you don’t want to.
  • Book ground transportation with a reputable company. Read reviews before you book.
  • Choose group excursions. This is a great way to meet other people and have fun.
  • Book your excursions ahead of time. This will ensure that you get a spot.
  • Make sure your arrival and departure times are during the day. This will make you feel safer.

My first solo traveler 7 years ago was traveling alone to Europe for 3 weeks and to 5 different cities. I made sure that all her lodging was reputable and top rated amongst hundreds if not thousands of travelers before booking it for her.

We mapped out the transit and I made sure she was centrally located in every city.

I made sure she was well taken care of.
