Get rid of Travel Blocks! 3 Exercises That Really Work

In the previous video we discussed the 6 Devastating Effects of Travel Blocks and how years of experience in the travel industry have afforded me the understanding of how to overcome these pesky obstacles.

In this video we’re going to dive into the 3 step system we’ve developed to begin overcoming travel blocks and giving your travel life a much needed boost.

But before we start, let’s dream a bit!

Think about this for a moment.

Where is your dream travel destination?

Think about when you would go. What season of the year? How long would you stay?

Would you stay in a Hotel? An All Inclusive Resort? A Villa? Cruise Ship? 5 Star Rated?

Ocean view? Swimming Pool? Beach? Gym? Yoga Studio? Any other amenities?

Think about what experiences you’d have. Partying? Relaxation? Snorkeling? Tours? Hiking? Dining? Ziplining?

Get a crystal clear picture of this.

What would you wear? How would the air smell? What would the food taste like?

Who would join you to experience this? Really imagine their faces with you at the destination!

Google your destination. Look up images. Watch youtube videos. Get a vivid image of where you’re going. [Demonstrate with “Bali, Indonesia”]

One of the biggest problems I myself and all my Dream Junkies ran into early on was thinking you needed to be rich in order to travel like a king or queen. Or that you’d have to have an enormous amount of free time to see the world. Neither of these are true.

Adventure traveler, Luis Vargas, puts it best when he suggests why most Americans don’t travel. According to Vargas, Americans don’t travel due to either Work. Money or Fear. We agree with this completely. You probably do to.

In my experience, work, money and fear are the core sources of all Travel Blocks. Overcome them and all that’s left are your travel dreams.

Here’s how:👇🏽

Now that you’ve identified a travel dream,

Step 1 is to identify 3 actions you need to take to make the dream a reality.

Step 2, identify what obstacles are preventing you from taking the necessary actions to achieve your travel dream. These obstacles are your Travel Blocks.

In Step 3, think about what actions will offset those travel blocks and in essence cancel them out.

By taking the actions necessary to neutralize your travel blocks, you’re freed up to take the necessary actions to manifest your Travel dream.

Take Bali as an example. To enjoy a 6 day stay in Bali, I’d have to achieve the following actions:

  1. Take 5 days off of work
  2. Save enough money for flights, stay, food and fun
  3. Ensure my safety by traveling with my husband and also to have someone I love sharing in my experience.

What’s standing in the way of me taking these actions and my trip to Bali? My travel blocks.

  1. I have a very hectic schedule with work and at home with my children.
  2. Bills are constant and we may not have much extra money to put towards a vacation.
  3. My husband is also busy, if not busier than me. Him having free time will also be a huge challenge – meaning I’ll have to travel alone… not going to happen.

So what can be done to cancel out these Travel Blocks?

  1. For my hectic schedule, I can commit to the week of travel 6 to 12 months in the future. I can lock it in my calendar and notify everyone affected by my trip. This could be your manager, the HR department, clients, friends and family. I can set monthly reminders on my phone and calendar to keep it in the forefront of my mind. As time gets closer to my travel date, I can also remind those people. This gives them fair notice of my travels and every one has adequate time to plan for my absence.
  2. For bills and money I can cut expenses anywhere possible. I must challenge everything. Coffee, eating out, cable, that new 4K television, that new outfit – everything. These are major Travel Blocks. If it’s not more important than Bali, cut it. If it can’t be cut, can it be reduced? Maybe I can cut down on electricity usage and reduce my light bill. Or simplify dinners during the week to stretch meals and save on groceries. There are endless options here. Every dollar I save, put it away in a savings account just for Bali.
  3. And for my husband joining me to Bali – If he’s just as excited as I am about Bali, he should be willing to do these same three exercises – then he’d probably be able to identify more ways to save money. Since we share the same goal, I’d be able to encourage him, help him, and hold him accountable over the course of the next few months and he’d be able to do the same for me.

This is crucial: Work daily on these last three actions and they’ll neutralize your Travel Blocks. Neutralize your travel blocks and all you’re left with is solutions and your dream trip!

Notice how each of my travel blocks in Step 2 deal directly with Work, Money and Fear.

Travel Block 1 deals with not having enough time to travel with my career, family and work. Travel Block 2 deals with not having enough money to travel. Travel Block 3 deals with both my husband’s work issues and ultimately my fear of traveling abroad and alone.

But when putting all 3 steps to work, I suddenly have a more clear plan to actually pull off a Bali trip. This simple plan is life changing.

You may be thinking, but JaQuay, you run a travel company. It’s easy for you to pull this off.

Can I afford the money and time to make my Travel Dream a reality?

At the end of the day, that’s a question you have to answer.

I can tell you this, time waits on no one. Every second that passes, is another second behind you, that you’ll never get back.

The real question is, can you afford not to do this? Can you afford to make the same mistake me and my husband made?

The strategies you’ve learned here has been instrumental in me sending clients all around the globe and back. If it worked for them, of course this will work for you.

Use it to launch your own dream travel plan and begin enjoying the life you’ve always dreamed of.
